1. Introduction

FluxQR is a privacy-first QR code scanner and generator developed by The English Life Academy ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data FluxQR collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. We are committed to collecting the minimum data necessary to operate the app and to never selling or sharing your data with third parties.

2. Data We Collect

2a. Free Users

Free users may use all core scanning and QR generation features without creating an account. No personal data is collected, transmitted, or stored by us. All scan history and generated QR codes are stored exclusively on your device using local storage.

2b. Pro Users (Optional Account)

Pro users who opt into cloud sync are required to create an account. We collect:

• Email address — used for account identification and login.
• Password — stored as an encrypted hash; never stored in plain text.
• Scan history (optional) — QR code content and timestamps, synced to encrypted cloud storage only when cloud sync is explicitly enabled by the user.

Account creation is optional. Pro features related to subscription management (e.g., plan status) do not require cloud sync to be enabled.

3. Camera Usage

FluxQR uses your device camera solely for real-time QR and barcode scanning. No images or video frames are stored, transmitted, or processed beyond what is necessary to decode the scanned code in the moment of scanning. Camera data is never sent to our servers.

4. How Data Is Stored

• Free users: All data is stored locally on your device only. We have no access to it.
• Pro users (cloud sync enabled): Scan history is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest in our cloud infrastructure. You may disable cloud sync at any time from within the app.

5. How Data Is Used

Data collected is used exclusively to:

• Display scanned QR code results on your screen.
• Save your scan history for later reference (locally, or in the cloud for Pro users who enable sync).
• Manage your account and subscription status (Pro users only).
• Sync your data across devices (Pro users with cloud sync enabled only).

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any purpose beyond what is stated above.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your data to any third party, including advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers. No third-party SDKs with data collection capabilities are included in FluxQR.

7. No Ads, No Analytics, No Tracking

FluxQR contains no advertising networks, no behavioural tracking, and no analytics tools. We do not track how you use the app, which codes you scan, or any usage patterns.

8. Permissions Used

• Camera (required): Used only for scanning QR codes and barcodes in real time. No images are stored.
• Biometric / PIN (optional): Used only to lock the Secure Vault feature on your device. Biometric data is handled entirely by your device's operating system and is never accessed or stored by FluxQR.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data by exporting your scan history from within the app.
• Delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from the Settings screen.
• Export your scan history in a portable format (JSON) from the Settings screen.

Deletion of your account will permanently remove all cloud-stored data. Locally stored data can be cleared by uninstalling the app or using the in-app clear history option.

10. Data Retention

Local data is retained until you clear it or uninstall the app. Cloud data for Pro accounts is retained until account deletion is requested. We do not retain any data after account deletion.

11. Children's Privacy

FluxQR does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. The optional account creation feature is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us immediately.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or our website. Continued use of FluxQR after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

FluxQR — Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using FluxQR ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users, including free and Pro subscribers.

2. Description of FluxQR

FluxQR is a QR code and barcode scanner and generator. Core features include real-time scanning, QR code generation (URLs, text, and other formats), local scan history, and a Secure Vault. All scanning and generation processes occur on-device.

3. Free vs. Pro Features

FluxQR is fully functional for free users without account creation. Free users have access to: unlimited scanning, basic QR generation, local scan history (up to 10 entries), and light/dark mode.

Pro users who subscribe gain access to additional features including: unlimited scan history, cloud sync across devices, custom QR styling, high-resolution export, Smart Actions, Secure Vault, folder organisation, batch scanning, and priority feature access.

4. Account Creation

Account creation is optional for free users. Pro users must create an account to access cloud-dependent features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information during account registration.

5. Subscriptions

Pro features are available through a paid subscription, offered on a monthly or yearly basis. Subscriptions are managed and billed through the applicable app store (Google Play or Apple App Store). Prices are subject to change; you will be notified of changes before your next billing cycle. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued unless required by law.

6. Data Ownership

You own all data you create, scan, or generate using FluxQR. We do not claim any rights over your scan data, generated QR codes, or any content you interact with through the App.

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to use FluxQR only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Use the App to scan or generate QR codes for illegal, fraudulent, or harmful purposes.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
• Use the App in a way that violates the rights of any third party.
• Distribute, resell, or sublicense the App or its features without written permission.

8. Prohibited Content

You must not use FluxQR to scan or generate QR codes that link to or contain: malware, phishing sites, illegal content, hate speech, or content that violates applicable laws or third-party terms of service.

9. Intellectual Property

FluxQR and all associated branding, design, and software are the intellectual property of The English Life Academy. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to our intellectual property beyond the limited licence to use the App.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

FluxQR is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or suitable for any particular purpose. Use of the App is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The English Life Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of FluxQR, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of business opportunities. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for a Pro subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to your account if you breach these Terms. You may also delete your account at any time from within the App.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify users of material changes through the App or our website.

• Passwords are stored as hashed values; plain-text passwords are never retained.
• The Secure Vault feature uses your device's native biometric or PIN system; biometric data is never accessed by FluxQR.

1. Google Play Policy Compliance

FluxQR has been developed and is maintained in compliance with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, including but not limited to policies governing user data, permissions, account requirements, and prohibited content. We commit to reviewing and updating FluxQR on an ongoing basis to remain compliant with policy changes issued by Google.

2. Applicable Privacy Law Compliance

FluxQR is designed to comply with applicable privacy laws, including the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) of Japan, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as applicable to users in the European Economic Area, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as applicable to users in California. Where applicable law grants users rights over their data — including access, correction, deletion, and portability — FluxQR provides mechanisms to exercise those rights directly within the app or through written request to our contact address.

3. No Data Collection for Free Users

We confirm that FluxQR collects no personal data from users who do not create an account. All scanning, QR generation, and history storage for free users occurs exclusively on the user's device. We have no access to, and do not transmit or receive, any data from free users.

4. Optional Account System for Pro Users

Account creation is strictly optional and is not required to use the core features of FluxQR. Pro users may create an account to access cloud-dependent features such as cross-device sync. Account creation requires only an email address and password. No additional personal data is requested or required.

5. No Data Sharing or Third-Party Access

We confirm that no user data — including scan history, account information, or any other data — is sold, rented, licensed, or otherwise disclosed to any third party. FluxQR does not integrate advertising networks, third-party analytics SDKs, data broker services, or any other external data-sharing mechanism.

6. Offline Functionality

We confirm that all core features of FluxQR — including QR scanning, QR generation, and local scan history — function fully without an internet connection. Network access is used only for account authentication and cloud sync, and only when the user has created a Pro account and explicitly enabled cloud sync.

7. Camera Permission Use

The camera permission is used solely for real-time QR and barcode scanning. No images or video are stored, transmitted, or processed beyond the immediate decoding of the scanned code. This use is consistent with Google Play's permissions policy requiring permissions to be used only for their declared, user-facing purpose.
